Fabric tear strength – this indicates the strength of the fabric (woven threads – warp and weft) under different surface and load conditions. This coefficient is expressed in Newtons (N); the higher the Newtons, the more durable the fabric. For high load conditions, at least 60 N is required.

Pilling test – fabrics with a coefficient of 3 may have a risk of fiber aggregation (pilling). It is recommended to choose a fabric with a coefficient of 4.

Color fastness to light – a fabric with a coefficient of 4-5 is sufficient for home use, but it is not recommended to leave furniture in direct sunlight, as the color may fade and white spots may appear on the fabric. If the furniture is intended for use on a veranda or near a window with open sunlight, it is necessary to choose a fabric with a coefficient of 6.

Martindale abrasion test (abrasion resistance) – simulates the natural wear of a seat cover, where a textile sample is rubbed against a standard abrasive surface with a certain force. For home use, a fabric with 30,000 revolutions after the test is sufficient; for restaurants and hotels – 50,000.
