Fabric tear resistance – this indicates how much resistance the fabric (for woven threads – warp and weft) has under the influence of different surfaces and load conditions. This coefficient is indicated in Newtons (N), the higher the Newtons, the stronger the fabric. At high load conditions, at least 60 N is required.

Pilling test – fabrics with a factor of 3 may be at risk of pilling (pilling). It is recommended to choose a fabric with a factor of 4.

Color fastness to light – a fabric with a factor of 4-5 is sufficient for home use, but it is not recommended to leave the furniture in direct sunlight, as the color may fade and white spots may appear on the fabric. If the furniture is intended to be placed on a veranda or by a window where there is direct sunlight, it is necessary to choose a fabric with a factor of 6.

Martindale abrasion test (resistance to abrasion) – simulates the natural wear of a seat cover, in which a sample of the textile material is rubbed with a certain force against a common abrasive surface. For home use, a fabric with a test rating of 30,000 revolutions is sufficient, for restaurants and hotels – 50,000.
